Reporting newly benchmarked standards

Since the publication of the Technical Guidance, a number of additional sustainability standards have been suggested by stakeholders as being potentially suitable for inclusion within the RTFO Sustainable Biofuel Meta-Standard. The status of new benchmark requests and the results of the completed benchmarks are outlined in the New benchmarked standards listing.

Suppliers can report standards that are on our New benchmarked standards listing - until the benchmarking process is complete these standards should not be reported as meeting the qualifying environmental or social levels.

The process for requesting a new benchmark for an assurance scheme is outlined here. For further details refer to the Technical Guidance.

The request should include the following information:

  • A formal description of the standard;
  • The most recent version of the standard's Criteria and Indicators;
  • The most recent version of the standard's audit/certification process requirements;
  • The most recent version of the standard's accreditation requirements.

The RFA will acknowledge the receipt of the email within ten working days and publish an announcement on the New benchmarked standards page that a benchmark will be performed for this certification scheme. The RFA will then start with a technical review of the certification scheme (i.e. benchmark).
