Dr. Paul Jefferiss is Group Head for Energy, Climate and Environment at BP. Previous executive roles include Director of Energy at the Union of Concerned Scientists, Director of the Green Alliance and Head of Environmental Policy at the RSPB.
He is currently a Board Member of the Renewable Fuels Agency and the Carbon Trust. He has previously served as a board member of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, the National Energy Foundation, the SITA Trust, the European Environmental Bureau, and the Renewable Energy Policy Project.
He sits or has sat on numerous Government and academic advisory committees on energy and the environment, including for the US Department of Energy, the UK Departments of Trade and Industry, Environment and Rural Affairs, and Transport, as well as for Ofgem, the Environment Agency, the UK Energy Research Centre, the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change, the Sustainable Development Commission, the British Standards Institute and the Sussex Energy Group.
He has testified to numerous Parliamentary committees, and spoken and published widely on energy and the environment.
He has a PhD from Harvard University and a Masters Degree from Tufts.
In 2003 he was awarded the Queen's Pioneer to the Life of the Nation Award, for services to the environment.
