The Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations Order 2007 created the Office of the Renewable Fuels Agency. The legislation states that the Secretary of State must appoint a Board to constitute the Office of the Renewable Fuels Agency.
The RFA is an executive Non-Departmental Public Body, sponsored by the Department for Transport, with six members. Recruitment to the board was through open competition and followed guidelines set out by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
